CBCRA acknowledges our Stewards for their continued support of our efforts to provide Ontarians with even more effective ways to recycle their beverage containers.

What Are Stewards

CBCRA Stewards are the producers and distributors of single-use, sealed, ready-to-serve beverage containers sold in the province. These companies are committed to increasing provincial beverage container recycling rates. Their funding supports everything from recycling infrastructure to consumer education. As new companies emerge and are identified they also become Stewards and participants in the CBCRA success story.

Provincial legislation information for obligated stewards:

Registration & Reporting

Stewards are members of beverage container producers and distributors. Obligated Stewards must achieve an 80% container recovery rate in Ontario by 2030. To demonstrate their ability to meet their mandatory recovery obligations, beverage stewards can either register with CBCRA or provide their own Program Plan to the Government of Ontario.

Stewards partnering with CBCRA must report on volumes supplied in Ontario on a monthly basis through the secure CBCRA reporting system.  CBCRA must have the primary contact name on file. The primary contact can add or change a billing contact or secondary contact any time they are logged onto the CBCRA reporting site. Change the primary contact change form by sending us an email.

Voluntary Stewards

Voluntary stewards do not reside in Ontario, but accept reporting responsibilities and make payments on behalf of an Obligated Steward, as administrative support. CBCA’s guiding principle is that companies acting as voluntary stewards should also become a voluntary steward with Multi-Materials Stewardship Manitoba Inc. (MMSM).
